Mnikr Prime Updates!

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks

I've been working hard on Mnikr Prime, so I thought I'd push some changes to the live server.

  • Profile pictures (taken from Digg or Twitter) are now included, so most people will have some icon show up for them. Yes, they're lower resolution than at Twitter-- Twitter's API exposes a low-resolution copy. Which is annoying.
  • Flickr usernames have finally been fixed, so your Flickr photos should now show up as normal in your activity stream.
  • I've integrated UserVoice support, so when you see something you'd like to be different, drop a note in there! It's always available via the tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
  • I've added support for Blip.TV.
  • I've finally added some actual copy to the homepage, as well as contact information and an about page, so it might begin to make some sort of sense.

Behind the scenes, I've been doing more performance work, so it should be more responsive. Obviously, that's an ongoing task, but I think it's improved significantly.

Twitter-- Twitter limits API requests to 100/hour, unless you ask them for permission. I've done so (now that I found out how), so we'll see what they say. Hopefully, they'll lift the limit for me and it'll be good to go, but if not, then I'll be using Gnip-- we'll see what happens.

Reputation system work is ongoing, should be fairly fast now.

As always, check it out at http://www.mnikr.com.

Multiple Atom Feeds!

So for all those people not really interested in subscribing to a big feed, I've added two category feeds that will let you subscribe to just what you want from Malice Aforethought:

Of course, the full feed, at http://feeds2.feedburner.com/MaliceAfterthought, will continue to work and have everything in it.

All three feeds are linked in the HEAD section, so your browser of choice can find them easily. Enjoy!

Mnikr Prime Downtime

Mnikr Prime was partially down (the user creation wasn't functioning, and all ActivityStreams functionality wasn't working) earlier today. It's back up now, and I'm working to correct the underlying cause; remember, Alpha-quality software. :-)

I've just created a plugin for Action Streams to include a link to one's http://blip.tv show in the profile, as well as include new shows in the Action Stream. It's not in the Movable Type Plugin Directory yet, as it always takes a few days for them to pick up new submissions, but you can download it right now from here, or see it with its sibling Action Streams plugins in the Movable Type category.

Hello, world! Welcome to the new USSJoin.com enterprise, Malice Afterthought.

This is a location set up to be the place I can put all the software I'm working on or have previously created, as it's gotten to be a bit big to stick in one big webpage on http://ussjoin.com.

In addition, I intend to use this blog to note software updates and new software uploads, rather than cluttering my primary blog (at http://blog.ussjoin.com ) with all of that as well.

Enjoy yourself! Utilize the links at the top of the page to find whatever you're looking for.
